My dissertation, Music Master, Machine, asks what it meant for Geminiani, an Italian immigrant and celebrity teacher in London, to publish a machine for composing music, and what his Guida Armonica says about where creativity lives. I expect to defend it in April 2027.

More broadly, I'm interested in how famous music teachers use mass media (i.e. books, video courses, other systems) to distribute their "presence" to students. What kind of access are students able to buy from these celebrity teachers? How do local teachers adapt to big names in their marketplace?

I also build things: Guida Armonica Interactive lets you compose with Geminiani's system in a browser, and Galant-Base is a small community database of galant schemata.
